BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION OF G.I. GURDJIEFF
[]
Here are people who pass, and people who remain in order to remind us of our duty to remember our True "Self" and to struggle with all our might for its fulfillment. Such was George Ivanovich Gurdjieff, a paradoxical mystic, writer, composer and choreographer from the Caucasus, whose image and teaching continue to provide a stimulus for the struggle for one's genuine essence to new generations of people fascinated with him. Each year on 13 January in dozens of countries and hundreds of cities, people who feel gratitude towards Gurdjieff assemble together to mark his birthday. In the upcoming year the Gurdjieff Club, recently founded in Moscow, is commemorating Gurdjieff's birthday at the "Dom" Cultural Center, which two years ago hosted an evening of Gurdjieff's music and sacred movements. The program of the evening includes Gurdjieff's sacred movements, Gurdjieff's music, reading from his book "Beelzebub's Tales to his Grandson," presentations made by guests, theatrical etudes, which illustrate Gurdjieff's ideas, a video composition and refreshments. We are cordially inviting all who are interested in Gurdjieff's teaching to celebrate this day along with us.
